About Motive:
Motive is a website platform for franchise auto dealerships. Millions of consumers use our platform every month. Our mission is to make car shopping great by giving simple, easy-to-use websites to auto manufacturers and their dealers. Motive is growing rapidly, with OEM customers such as Genesis, Lexus, and Harley-Davidson — as well as some of the largest auto dealers in the world. We are experiencing rapid growth across the entire business.
About our team:
The Motive team is dynamic and fully distributed — with a small in-person presence at our headquarters in Oklahoma City and a future office in Seattle for hybrid work. We are driven to create exceptionally designed and engineered products that meaningfully impact the world. We’re a smart, thoughtful team where every member is an owner, deeply invested in the success of the business. If you thrive in fast-paced situations, and you are often skeptical of consensus, you will fit in well at Motive.
About the Role:
We are seeking an entry-level Software Engineer to work with our Revenue Activation Team to help scale Motive’s activation process through automation, AI, and data-driven software development. You will work closely with the operations team to automate the client launch and revenue activation process, creating a smoother and more efficient onboarding experience for our dealers. This role will report directly to our CTO, but work very closely with the operations and executive team, as well as cross-functionally.
The ideal candidate thrives solving complex problems with software, automation, and data. You hate repetitive, manual processes. You are naturally curious, resourceful, and unafraid to challenge assumptions to get to the right solution. This role requires close collaboration with sales, implementation, and product teams to execute our revenue activation strategy through software and automation.
In this role, you can expect to:
Automate and accelerate 50+ client launches per month, helping drive our expansion to thousands of dealerships
Supercharge our implementation team to punch above its weight through software, automation, AI, and data analysis
Find and identify bottlenecks and optimizations by working directly with our operations team members to streamline and optimize process
Shape our core product to ensure automation is considered from day one
Move the business forward through rapid experimentation, data-driven decisions, and high-leverage software development
Build robust integrations between Motive products, business systems, and third-party data sources to unlock speed and efficiency
Work in a small, elite, cross-functional, and dynamic engineering team where your contributions have an immediate and noticeable impact
We are looking for someone who has/is:
An intuition for good design
1+ years of React experience
1+ years of backend development experience (Ruby on Rails and/or Python preferred)
Small startup experience (1-20 engineers)
Highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented, with great follow-through
We would prefer candidates who have/are interested in the following:
Experience working with generative AI models in a professional capacity
Experience working with and cleaning large quantities of data
Experience in building tools for automating labor intensive processes, like data entry
Experience with web scraping
Compensation: $90,000 to $110,000 in salary.
Exact compensation will depend on experience and demonstrated proficiency during the interview process
Your compensation will additionally include meaningful stock option compensation
