About Motive:

Motive is a website platform for franchise auto dealerships. Millions of consumers use our platform every month. Our mission is to make car shopping great by giving simple, easy-to-use websites to auto manufacturers and their dealers. Motive is growing rapidly, with OEM customers such as Genesis, Lexus, and Harley-Davidson — as well as some of the largest auto dealers in the world.

About our team:

The Motive team is dynamic and fully distributed — with a small in-person presence at our headquarters in Oklahoma City. We are driven to create exceptionally designed and engineered products that meaningfully impact the world. We’re a smart, thoughtful team where every member is an owner, deeply invested in the success of the business. If you thrive in fast-paced situations, and you are often skeptical of consensus, you will fit in well at Motive.

We are seeking a Chief Financial Officer who will oversee our financial operations and strategies. This role requires a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with a strong background in finance and accounting. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities but won’t be afraid to get their hands dirty.

In this job, you can expect to:

  • Work with sales, operations, and engineering to drive organizational strategy

  • Oversee P&L and capital allocation decisions across key functional areas of key business.

  • Create and manage financial models

  • Lead and monitor closing processes

  • Design and implement of internal controls over financial policies

  • Interface with investors and our BoD

  • Oversee Motive’s US and Canadian entities

  • Manage AP/AR, payroll processes

  • Oversee tax filings

  • Administer and manage cap table, including 409a valuations

  • Interface with our legal team on financial matters

We are looking for someone who has/is:

  • 7+ years of experience in an executive-level finance role at a Startup

  • A strong background in finance and accounting

  • Verifiable track record of success leading an organization through a significant growth phase in terms of both headcount (i.e., 20 to 100s of people) and revenue

  • Experience generating shareholder value and leading the company through the growth stage

  • Demonstrable success in a high-growth, venture-backed B2B technology company. Specific knowledge of automotive is a plus.

  • Skilled in creating and managing financial models

  • Excellent communication skills, capable of interfacing with investors and board members

  • Experienced in managing tax filings and compliance across multiple jurisdictions

  • Knowledgeable in payroll management and payroll tax compliance

  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented with great follow-through on initiatives big and small

  • Experienced in cap table administration and 409A valuations

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with legal, accounting, and bookkeeping teams

Compensation

  • Base salary compensation will be determined from various prerequisites and levels of proficiency and will be further narrowed throughout the interview process.

  • Your compensation will include attractive variable compensation in addition to your base salary.

  • Your compensation will include meaningful stock option compensation.

  • Motive contributes 100% of the cost of employees' health, dental, and vision insurance premiums. For employees’ dependents, Motive covers 50% of their insurance premiums.
